Serena leads development work on projects that are partnerships with churches in and around Oakland, CA. Having worked on the completed Genesis Worship Center, Serena is currently leading the Homes of Hope project and working to establish partnerships with multiple additional churches as well.
Serena is a major part of Workbench fundraising efforts, leading work with numerous lenders, investors, and both private and public grant funders to the New Way Homes pre-development fund. Serena also has a specialty in brownfield mitigation and funding, most recently having sourced the funding from the state of California for site remediation on a New Way Homes & Workbench affordable housing project in Salinas, CA.
Prior to joining Workbench, Serena was an event planner for a major venue in San Francisco. She is an active member at the Greater Cooper AME Zion church in Oakland and a passionate fan of the San Francisco 49ers.
