Opportunity is here.
Coastal California has long been a place of opportunity and innovation. Like many desirable places to live, it has a shortage of high quality housing of varying types. Workbench is at the forefront of adding much needed housing beautifully and sustainably.
A need for housing like never before
Decades of slow and no growth policy has created huge scarcity and short fall in the demand for housing. Local rents are on average $500 more than even more urban areas. Coastal California seeks to preserve it’s open spaces and natural beauty by building denser, more sustainable neighborhoods, with a more walkable focus and less car dependancy.
Change in legislation means this is the ideal time to invest
New housing laws promote denser building and streamlines the planning and building approval process. Federal, state, and local incentives promote solar and net-zero efficiency, fire-resistance, long-lasting materials. This results in projects that are high quality, long-lasting, sustainable, and that pencil at attractive returns.
Growth is happening
Every community in California must have a plan to meet it’s RHNA goals. Santa Cruz City alone needs to build nearly 3,800 new homes over the next eight years to meet these state targets. It will take density to create that many homes in a sustainable way, that impacts the community in positive ways.
Down-to-earth investor community
We like to work with investors we enjoy; like-minded individual and organizations who believe in the community and want to see it thrive. We’re committed to laying out all the details and building transparency and trust at every stage.
“We challenged Workbench to complete the Jack O’Neill Restaurant & Lounge renovation in just over 7 weeks. This was an incredibly fast-track schedule, given the scope of the remodel. Workbench’s versatility and experience enabled them to meet this aggressive schedule while achieving our high quality standards.”

What impressed me most about Workbench was how much they cared, especially in design and project management. Their mastery of the permitting process comes in a close second. They live up to the tagline of Concept to Completion.”

There were challenges along the way, but Workbench helped to provide choices to solve them. Their design team is very good with small spaces and details, and we love the end result. Thank you Workbench. I am glad you are part of the Santa Cruz community.
